Creative Youth Development: What’s in a Name?
Out-of-school arts programming has been the core of the work of many local arts service agencies for decades. With a new name for this field, research being conducted, and policy opportunities being exposed, learn from national leaders who are driving this movement for additional monetary and policy support for further investment in the infrastructure of the field of Creative Youth Development.
The panel will include:

- Heather Ikemire, Director of Program and Membership Strategy, National Guild for Community Arts Education

Creative Youth Development as a Catalyst for Civic Engagement
How can the arts and arts education create a new generation of active, engaged citizens? Hear four panelists at the forefront of the creative youth development movement talk about how the arts are empowering America’s youth. This session addresses issues of advocacy, arts education, community development, diversity/equity, leadership, and public value.
The panel will be moderated by Jeff M. Poulin, Arts Education Program Coordinator, Americans for the Arts, and include:

- Traci Slater-Rigaud, Director, National Arts and Humanities Youth Program Awards, President’s Committee on the Arts and the Humanities
