The CYD National Partnership is excited to announce a new leadership change for the CYD National Coordinator position. For the past two years, Ashley Hare has served the CYD National Coordinator. She worked in support of the CYD National Partners, local practitioners, and youth leaders to implement the vision outlined in the CYD National Action Blueprint. Ashley now joins the National Guild for Community Arts Education as Director of Leadership Development to fully integrate these values into the Guild’s programming and operations.

In support of the CYD value of youth voice, it was important to re-focus the CYD National Coordinator role on the development of young artists as leaders in the field. By engaging alumni of past National Young Artists Summits and their adult allies, an application process was developed to name a CYD youth leader into the new position of CYD National Youth Coordinator, which will focus on growing the following initiatives:

    • Local CYD Peer Learning Networks: Providing assistance to three, youth-centered local CYD peer learning networks (specially the youth reps), and ensure their work supports local youth-driven leadership
    • National Youth Network: Creation of a young artists network that supports the virtual gathering and networking of young artists from across the country.
    • 2020 National Young Artists Summit: Supporting the building and implementation of National Young Artist’s Summit with youth planning team members

We are pleased to welcome youth summit alumni and CYD leader Paula Ortega as the CYD National Youth Coordinator.
